How a Horizontal All-in-One Diesel Air Heater Heats a Site Office Container Through the Winter

A site office container is a steel box sitting on an exposed construction yard, and by morning its walls are radiating cold. Mains power is often unavailable or limited, and portable electric heaters draw heavily on a generator. A horizontal all-in-one diesel air heater tucked under a desk is a practical way to keep the office usable through winter without running a generator all day.
Why the Horizontal Box Fits the Container
Site containers have fixed desks, benches, and cots that create low under-space. The flat horizontal heater slides beneath a desk or workbench, blowing warm air toward the feet of whoever sits there. Because it burns diesel rather than grid power, it works even when the yard power is cut, and it needs no vent hose to a distant boiler room.
Sizing for a Steel Container
A standard 20 foot office container holds around 25 to 30 cubic meters, and thin steel walls lose heat quickly. A 5 kilowatt horizontal unit is a common fit for such a room, lifting the space to a working 18 degrees within thirty minutes. If the container is lined and insulated, a 2 kilowatt to 3 kilowatt version modulates more gently. Because the office sits still, the heater can run on a timer so the room is warm before the crew arrives.
Safe Installation on a Steel Box
The exhaust and combustion air intake pass through a lower wall panel and terminate outside, pointing away from the door and the prevailing wind. Mount the unit on a small sheet-metal plate for stability, and keep the fuel bottle secured in a ventilated corner. Add a low-level carbon monoxide alarm, keep a small window crack for fresh air, and the container office becomes a comfortable space through the coldest months.
