Which Cab Sizes Suit a 5 kW Vertical All-in-One Diesel Air Heater?

The 5 kilowatt rating is a popular middle ground for a vertical all-in-one diesel air heater, powerful enough for full-size truck sleepers and larger construction cabs while still compact enough to mount under a seat. Choosing it against the actual cab size avoids buying too little warmth or paying for output that the space never needs.
The Comfortable Volume Range
In an insulated sleeper cab of roughly 8 to 12 cubic meters, a 5 kilowatt unit lifts the interior to around 18 to 20 degrees Celsius within twenty minutes and then modulates to hold it overnight. It also handles large-glass cabs on wheel loaders, cranes, and farm tractors, where cold radiates through wide windows. For a compact day cab under 5 cubic meters, the same unit tends to cycle on and off because it quickly reaches temperature.
When the Extra Capacity Earns Its Place
Drivers who sleep in the cab in climates where winter nights drop well below minus 10 degrees benefit from the headroom: the heater reaches its target faster and spends more time in efficient modulation instead of straining at maximum output. The vertical form keeps that higher rating in a narrow package, so the 5 kilowatt unit occupies little more floor space than a smaller 2 kilowatt model.
When to Step Down Instead
If the space is a small tool kiosk, a compact equipment cab, or a shelter under 6 cubic meters with good insulation, a 2 kilowatt or 3 kilowatt vertical unit warms it just as well with lower fuel use and quieter fan operation. Over-sizing a heater in a small room leads to frequent start-stop cycles, more glow plug use, and uncomfortable temperature swings. Matching the kilowatt rating to the measured interior volume is the reliable way to decide.
